[ 8 days in Uganda ]

the Pearl of Africa | December — 2025

Christmas day — 3 am in Uganda — a thick and hazy morning as we exited Entebbe International Airport. Despite being in a totally new environment, the calmness of the early morning was comforting. The sense of constant haste from life back home instantly dissipated.

The heart and soul of this special place was like a polished antique gemstone. Beauty revealed in the little moments, and layers of tradition and culture everywhere you venture.

Starting at Kampala International airport, we were guided by the same crew that stamped our boarding passes towards one of the three departures gates.

We walked across the tarmac and boarded a small, 8 person plane. The seats felt like sitting on a school bus. The experience felt right out of a National Geographic special.

Runways were unmarked and composed of vibrant red dirt.

Check-in was by roll call from a piece of paper on a clipboard.
